A new school replacing original on the same site, which was in a poor state of repair.
The design intent was to produce an “intuitive” exemplar school featuring sustainable construction materials natural lighting and a computer controlled natural ventilation system requiring little input by the occupants to operate efficiently.

The building’s thermal performance was designed to be 20% better than the current Building Regulations, and Over 80% of the materials used in the construction are A or A* rated
Pupils, community and teachers were involved with the project from very early stages of the design process, students even consulted over internal colour schemes.

Incorporates many sustainable features in such a way as to inform pupils and building users. Classroom orientation and natural lighting strategy relies on north facing glazing in order to minimise overheating through uncontrolled solar gains.
