What can I do?

Six common school types from across Wales have been tested using a computer model to look at the impact that different sustainable design features would have on energy consumption.

The school types included are:

For each school type appropriate sustainable design features have been tested. For example, insulating a Victorian Primary School and orientation of a newly built Secondary School.

All tests have been undertaken based on a typical winters day in the UK.

By selecting different combinations of sustainable design features conflicts in the decision to include different sustainable options can be seen. For example, including triple glazed windows can increase heating demand but reduce overheating as there will be less solar gain.
