Grid system providing delivered energy

Free energy from the sun, lighting a corridor

Delivered energy provides power and heat to systems. Delivered energy is commonly supplied from a centralised grid system involving the use of fossil fuels either to generate electricity or to produce heat. Delivered energy can also be provided by renewables.

Only energy from fossil fuel sources have associated carbon emissions.

Free energy is available from the sun, wind and external and internal temperatures. This free energy can be used to provide heating, lighting and help ventilate the building. This process is commonly known as ‘passive design’ where the building envelope, form and glazing can be optimised to benefit from the external environment.
